The Badlands Gymnastics Club, originally named the Watford City Twisters, is a parent-run organization which started in 1984. The club met in the lower level of McKenzie County Bank until the fall of 1991 when the club moved into the McKenzie County Fair Building.
Badlands Gymnastics Club is a non-profit organization run solely by a volunteer board and through the help of parent volunteers. The Badlands program has a board of directors which consists of parents and coaches. This board meets on a quarterly basis, creates and enforces the rules and policies of the program, and incorporates fund raising opportunities for all gymnasts. We rely heavily on the support of the community. Our facility is within the Watford City Rough Rider Center.
Our Mission
Badlands Gymnastics Club’s training is focused on the belief that gymnastics is not only the root of all sports, it provides a solid foundation to develop the skills that will last a lifetime.
At Badlands Gymnastics, we prepare your child for life by teaching strength, flexibility, speed, balance, coordination, power and discipline. By providing gymnastics instruction in a positive environment under the guidance of a supportive coaching staff, Badlands Gymnastics can do wonders for building confidence and self-esteem in your child.
Children benefit from an active lifestyle and participating in any sport. The American Academy of Pediatrics believes that taking part in organized sports provides a chance for young people to increase their activity and develop socially and physically. Gymnastics training enhances many other sports, including soccer, hockey, football, dance, basketball and track. Gymnastics is more than just learning how to do a cartwheel or balance on a four inch beam. Through Badlands Gymnastics, your child will grow socially by making new friends, learning team building skills, and having fun.
With this in mind, Badlands Gymnastics has made it our primary goal to insure that our program delivers more than just pure physical skill. Determination, work ethic, time management, team work, team spirit, and sportsmanship are all skills that will surely assist our students throughout the rest of their lives.
